Art and Design

It is our aim at St Berteline’s Primary School that all children will be creative thinkers and feel confident working with new materials and styles of art. They will use knowledge and understanding of the creative, artistic process to interpret what they see and can use a variety of 2D and 3D art skills to build something unique and personal to them. Children will be able to talk about art using creative and technical language such as shade, shape, pattern and colour and will build on the language and skills as they work through primary school. An understanding of the process famous artists have gone through in order to create historical masterpieces will be gained throughout their art lessons, with children realising that art can be open to interpretation.
